The Academical Village, a six
man singing group from the University,
has been selected from a field
of 1500 groups to compete for a
regional championship and a spot in
the 1970 finals of the Budweiser-sponsored
intercollegiate Music
Festival.

The group is one of eighty-seven
acts that will compete for the six
regional titles. The contest will be
held at Villanova University on
March 6 and 7, where a winner will
be selected in the categories of
popular and folk music.

The Academical Village is primarily
a folk group, first introduced
to the University in a concert
on the lawn held last year. The
group is one of several groups
connected with the Glee Club. Its
rehearsals and activities are separate
from the larger group, but all are
under the supervision of Glee Club
Director Donald oach.

If the singers should win the
regional title, they and other
winners in the popular and folk
categories will move into the
intercollegiate Music Festival national
finals, held on August 13-15
at the Mississippi River Festival site
on the campus of Southern Illinois
University.

The six members of Academical
Village are om Diklich, its primary
founder, W. D. Hasty, Dean DeBuck,
Rick Hanger, Andy Mackey
and Gay Aichelle.
