349.

[And have not I ungrateful been]

But Jeshurun waxed fat and kicked, &c. —xxxii. 15.

And have not I ungrateful been,
Basely forsook my God for sin,
My God who form'd me man,
Abused my Saviour's pardoning grace,
And turn'd it into wantonness,
And murder'd Him again!
Thee that I may no more forsake,
O Rock of my salvation, take
And keep me in Thy side;
There in the open cleft secure
My contrite heart, my spirit poor
From sin for ever hide.
