EPIGRAM CXLII.
[In our forefathers days, for once in his life]
VIRES ACQUIRIT EUNDO.
In our forefathers days, for once in his life,
The squire brought to London his daughter and wife,
And great was the fuss and ado:
But henceforward, ye squires, let this trouble alone!
For if London grows on, as of late it has grown,
It will soon make a visit to you!
