[Can I forget the wondrous ways]

Thou shalt remember all the way, &c. —viii. 2.

Tempted, and proved by hopes and fears,
I roved for more than forty years!
Provoked, Thou didst not quite depart,

The stubbornness, deceit, and pride,
While still I cast Thy grace away,
And would not, when I might, obey.
