“Speak, first, then go,” said Pharaoh: “by all Powers
Of the Great Mysteries, I command thee speak:
Is there a god, Jehovah?”
Silence deep
And long there was: then the thick air again
Shuddered, and moaned; and, afterwards, the voice,
But fainter than before,—as if the clay
Deader had grown about it; or the soul
More weak to struggle through,—thus, sighing, spake.
