3. Epilogue
All Things at first were Soe dispos'dSome for to be Conceald, Others Disclosd
For Soe ye God of Nature did deuise
T'appeer in Open works, & Misteries
Who for to kindle more desire in Her
Commands a knee heer, ther a whol wonderer
Nor euer can She grow soe Owld to be
Full Satesfide wt h Longd for Nouelty
But Like ye Serpent Stript doth Stil pursue
All Curious Thoughts & Fancies to renewe
97
She's all Inflam'd a Phenix Sacrefize
Vntil an Other Bird-like-wish as rare
Fledg from those Ashes claime in Her a Share
Soe Endless is yt minde we heer posess
In hauing All yet iudging nothing less
For as those Bounties we receiue Should rayse
Our Soules not more to Couet, but to prayse
For wt we know allredy: So 'twer good
'Fore we Sought more Our Selus we vnderstood:
But like Abortiue Issues So we can
Ingender in Conceipt it Makes ye Man
And He yt doth not vndertake to know
More than He doth had better not 'been So
Thus doth our Parent's weeny danlings then
Seem to Instruct vs Her true Children
'Til wt h our bubble Dispositians plaijng
At last we find we work our owne betraijng
And whilst beyond our Span we Seek to Strayn
'Tis but a Pin or Counter is ye gain.
Ambition, Pride, & Auarice contend
To Swallow All our Contemplations lend
And what Somere we ayme to bring to pass
Good or bad Fortune proues its Looking-glass
Soe yt if we would place our dressings true
We Should look first what's likely to ensue
And then attempt noe more but yt wc h lies
Within ye Fathom of our proper Sise
But wrought vp into Tempest by those winds
Our Mother Serues our Dispositian finds
Noe rest til It hath tride by Sea & Land
What Soeuer It desires to bring to hand
And when both Seas & Lands haue compast been
Ther's Some thing Stil Vnfound, Some thing Vnseen
Basta.
