Marathon
At Prism

Thirty folk entertainers, four
poets and the staff of the Prism
Coffeehouse are getting themselves
all together for the first Easters
Weekend Marathon Benefit Concert.
The program, featuring performers
from Norfolk, Washington,
Pittsburgh and Charlottesville, is a
last ditch effort to get the coffeehouse
of debt.

The entire thing will get going
on Friday night at 8:00 and
continue until no one wants to
listen to any more music. The same
format will be used for Saturday
night. The Prism has prepared itself
to carry on continuously if the
people desire. Cover will be only
$0.50.

The participating entertainers,
friends the coffeehouse has made in
the past, are all donating their
services for only gas money and
two free meals from the kitchen of
Momma Dawn Thompson. Included
in the list of musicians appearing
will be Joe Lathum & Group, Mark
Stadler, Fat Daddy, Cooper Norman,
Bob Crawford, Penentenguishene
(Saturday), Mitch Rouzie, Will
Smith and Gary Greenwood.

The variety of musical styles
that this collection of talent possesses
will be augmented by poetry
readings by Resident poets.
Howard's Friends, a local group,
will be present to play all your
favorite Country and Western
tunes. Tim Oaksman will return this
weekend performing on classical
guitar. Bob Crawford and Janet
Dewart are getting together for the
first time in two years to do some
modern Jazz and Folk music.

In contemporary folk music Joe
Lathum & Group, which received
two encores the first night they
played at the Prism, will be ably
supported by Will Smith, Mark
Stadler, Phyllis Knight and Dee
Kaiser. Joyous Cosmology (minus
bass) and a new group composed of
Bob Crawford, Gary Greenwood
and Larry Horvath will kick some
Jazz into the mixture. All this will
be leavened by the Prism's resident
astrologer who will cast horoscopes
upon request.
