RECOGNITION OF THE EFFORT AND DEDICATION OF
UNIVERSITY EMPLOYEES DURING THE BLIZZARD OF 1996

The following resolution was adopted:

  • WHEREAS, the snowstorm which began January 6, 1996, and continued, intermittently, through January 12, caused an accumulation of snow in Charlottesville, so large that it is called, simply, The Blizzard of 1996; and
  • WHEREAS, the snowfall was so deep that roads were impassable and schools and businesses were closed; and
  • WHEREAS, University employees made extraordinary efforts to clear roads and sidewalks on the Grounds, and to maintain essential services;

  • RESOLVED that The Board of Visitors acknowledges the extraordinary performance of University employees during The Blizzard of 1996, and expresses its thanks to those employees for their service and dedication.
