O'erwhelm'd alas, with deep distress,
O'ertaken by Thy plagues I mourn,
And lo! in these my latest days
To Thee, my pardoning God, I turn:

Obedient now Thy voice I hear;
I will with all Thy words comply:
Avert the punishment I fear,
Nor leave me in my sins to die.
