[How madly rash for puny man]
And moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
—xiii. 28.
How madly rash for puny man,
The world, the fiend, and flesh to' oppose!
Our passions will their sway maintain,
Our terrible gigantic foes:
We must, who doubt the gospel-word,
With Satan and the world comply,
We must, who cannot trust the Lord,
Sin on, till we for ever die.
