As one o'er-weigh'd with misery,
Sunk silent at Joanna's feet:
Not slow her speech the youth to greet.
“Speak, hapless stranger! tell thy tale,
“What wrongs thy tender years assail.
“At Bourdeaux' throne redress obtain:
“None to her sov'reign sue in vain.
