TO AN ACCOMPLISHED LADY.

IN THE MANNER OF WALLER.

O Nymph! than blest Pandora honour'd more,
What Gods to grace thee lavish all their store!
We see thy form in awful beauty move,
At once repelling and inviting love;
We see thy mind each bright perfection reach
That Genius kindles, and the Graces teach:
Pallas to form that matchless mind, conspires
With Wisdom's coolness, temp'ring Fancy's fires;
Here, as in Eden's blissful garden, shoot
The tree of Knowledge and forbidden Fruit.
