February Favor
I strongly resent your editorial
calling for the abolition of the
month of February. Though its
weather is not always pleasant.
February is the host of Aquarius,
the sign of humanitarianism. To do
away with February would be to do
away with some of the most
beautiful people in the Zodiac, a
loss which we can afford.
Each month has its own distinctive
style, and if we learned to look
for, and appreciate, that style,
instead of worrying simply about
the weather, we might not be so
eager to edit the calendar whenever
we felt inconvenienced or depressed.
But if you feel compelled to do
away with a month, how about
November? The weather isn't so
great then, either, and neither, for
the most part, are the people born
therein. (Spiro Agnew, for one.) Of
course, the best way to rid
ourselves of November people
would be to follow your original
proposal and abolish February
but that's another problem.
