'Mike Gowan prefers to call himself simply a contemporary guitarist. While perhaps adequate, this description conveys nothing of the intricacy of his guitar work or the eloquence of his music. His style is a mingling of contemporary classical music and Delta Blues. He will perform his own compositions as well as those of his mentor, John Fahey, at the Prism, beginning at 8:30, Saturday night.
