55. On Carnall Mirth.

Who seeks to quench by help of Carnall friends,
Those fiery Errants that the Conscience sends,
Redeemes his Peace, but with a further spoyle;
Drinks in a Fever: quenches Fyre with Oyle.
Lord, if thou strike my Conscience; and that, Me:
I will expect, and trust no Friend, but Thee.
