To Momus.
Because I no Mæcenas getTo patronize my verse as yet
Nor wooing e'r bespok my friend
To swear them witty or wel pen'd;
Momus dares say they'ar poor, not worth
The owning, silly, and so forth:
Ingenious Readers are my Judges here,
But Momus you are none of those I fear.
