17, 1843, description of a song and prayer meeting in the slave
quarters; a January 17, 1844, mention of the
murder of one slave by another; an April 12,
1845, record of an attack on Captain John S.
Washington by a black man; and a
November 1, 1845, mention of the will of N.
H. Hove that freed his slaves and sent them to Africa.
