And hates the nature, he disgrac'd.
Of worthless life, and vicious taste,
Turns misanthrope at last for spite;
And hates the nature, he disgrac'd.

In venomous streams on paper fall;
Out comes a satire on mankind;

And double misery, should we read it!
We prove his doctrine, if we heed it;
'Twere double folly, should we buy,
And double misery, should we read it!
