[The world and their infernal god]
The Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve, &c.
—i. 13.
The world and their infernal god
Have ruled us with an iron rod,
And long our slavish souls have been
Gall'd by the rigorous yoke of sin:
Yet drudging on with abject fear
We served our haughty lords severe,
And hardly daring to complain,
We kiss'd the rod, and hugg'd the chain.
