STERN TRUTHS TRANSFIGURED.
Those mountain forms of giant girth
Are rooted deep in moveless earth;
But lo! their yearning heights withdrawn,
Are melting in soft seas of dawn.
Are rooted deep in moveless earth;
But lo! their yearning heights withdrawn,
Are melting in soft seas of dawn.
What golden lights and shadows kiss
Brown ledge and Titan precipice!
Till all the rock-bound, sullen space
Glows like a visionary face:
Brown ledge and Titan precipice!
Till all the rock-bound, sullen space
Glows like a visionary face:
Thus frowning truths whose roots are furled
Round bases of some granite world,
May lift their mellowed light afar,
Transfigured by love's morning-star.
Round bases of some granite world,
May lift their mellowed light afar,
Transfigured by love's morning-star.
