In early days I read this tale; it seemed
Most touching and most wise, and it has lived
Within my memory: in the simple Greek
Of the old chronicler it truly is
A stirring tale: perhaps less touching here,
(Though English is a plaintive tongue) yet not
Without pathetic wisdom of its kind.
Most touching and most wise, and it has lived
Within my memory: in the simple Greek
Of the old chronicler it truly is
A stirring tale: perhaps less touching here,
(Though English is a plaintive tongue) yet not
Without pathetic wisdom of its kind.
