MY HEART IS WILD.

[_]

Air—“I travelled this country”.

I

My heart is wild with the love I bear
For my maiden mild of the yellow hair,
Of the yellow hair and the low, fond sighs,
Of the form so fair and the star-bright eyes.

II

I know a tree in a distant glade,
And it mindeth me of my own dear maid;
Where'er I strayed was no fairer tree,
No fairer maid than my love to me.

III

In a fairy dell by the moorland height
I know a well, calm, pure, and bright:
In its waves of light the sunbeams play,
Like the glances bright of my lovely May.

IV

By the gentle hill, and gray rock piled,
Leaps down that rill like a gladsome child—
Oh! my heart's as wild with the love I bear
For my maiden mild of the yellow hair.
