PARABLE XXI. The Piece of Silver.
Or thus,—What woman, that retainsTen silver pieces, all her gains,
And loses one, does not explore,
With candle light, and sweep the floor,
And use all diligence, to find
The coin on which she sets her mind;
And, when she finds it, does not call
Her friends and neighbours, one and all,
“Your gratulations here be paid,
“I've found the piece that I mislaid!”
Likewise there's joy, you may rely,
Before th'angelic host on high,
If one poor sinner meekly prays,
Repenting all his evil ways.
