Mailer: 'Existential Combat'
Mailer: Author And Film Maker
Norman Mailer, author of
such works as The Naked and
The Dead, Of a Fire on the
Moon, and The Armies of the
Night, will appear along with
his film, "Maidstone,"
Thursday beginning at 6:30
p.m. at University Hall.
Following the showing of
"Maidstone", which will be
introduced with a brief
commentary by Mailer, there
will be an intermission of an
half an hour, during which
refreshments are to be sold at
the usual places.
Beginning at about 9 p.m.
Mailer has promised to talk on
the movie and Women's
liberation for a short while and
then throw the bulk of the
evening open to an hour or so
of "existential combat" with
the audience.
Three stand-up microphones
will be placed along the
mezzanine walkway from
which anyone in the audience
can fire questions at Mailer.
According to the University
Union, the program is planned
so that those who wish only to
hear Mailer may arrive during
the intermission from 8:30 to
9:00 p.m. For those wanting to
see the film too, the doors will
open at 5:45.
