Break For Army

Army got its big break in the
third quarter when defensive back
Grover Daily picked off his second
Larry Albert pass of the day to
give the Cadet offense the ball on
the Cavalier 45 yardline.

From there the West Pointers
drove the ball in with halfback
Bob Hines taking it over from the
one to put Army ahead. The extra
point kick by Jim Barclay made
it 7-3, and after that the Cadets
never trailed.

Army's second TD came after
an Army punt hit Cavalier Bill
Kettenun while he was preparing
to block for a runback. Tackle Ted
Krawczyk pounced on the ball on
the Wahoo fifteen yard-line, and
one play later Fink hit flanker Ed
Francis with a 14-yard pass over
the middle for the score.

After the Cavalier offense, then
under the direction of Harrison
Davis, failed to move the ball,
Army got it back and was in
Cavalier territory on the 42 when
Fink, under pressure from Andy
Selfridge and Billy Williams, lofted
the ball in the air. McGrail picked
it off and went all the way.
