ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ROBERT M. BLIZZARD PROFESSORSHIP IN PEDIATRIC ENDOCRINOLOGY

WHEREAS, Dr. Robert M. Blizzard was a distinguished member of the faculty of the School of Medicine for twenty years and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics; and

WHEREAS, when he retired in 1994, Dr. Blizzard had trained more than 50 fellows in pediatric endocrinology, many of whom have become distinguished leaders in their field; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Blizzard has received national recognition for his contributions to pediatric endocrinology and to endocrinology and metabolism, and was co-founder and the first Director of the National Pituitary Agency; and

WHEREAS, a number of Dr. Blizzard’s colleagues, friends and former students have contributed generously to a professorship in his honor;

RESOLVED, the Board of Visitors establishes the Robert M. Blizzard Professorship in Pediatric Endocrinology, to be held in the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine, thanks the contributors to this chair for their generosity, commends Dr. Blizzard for his distinguished professional contributions, and thanks him for his devoted service to the University and to his profession.
