Small poems of Divers sorts | ||
62. To Mris. Katharin Pegge my wives eldest sister.
Although this age is against Crosses set,I cannot quit me of my Crosses yet:
But welcome any Cross that comes, we say;
It may be for our goods another day.
So let us ever to the Powers divine
Our selves, and what belongs to us resign:
That no Prosperity may be allow'd
So to exalt our mindes to make us proud;
And no Adversity deject us so,
But patiently we may it undergo.
Then let our Crosses go, or Crosses come,
Whilest we can say, the will of Haaven be done.
