THE UNIVERSAL EPITAPH
No flattering praises daub my stoneMy Frailties & my faults to hide
My faults & failings all are known
—I livd in sin—in sin I dy'd
& O condemn me not I pray
All who my sad confession see—
But ask your soul if it can say
That your a Better man then me
