SONG.

You were the only, only one,
A long long while,
You were the spring, and all my sun
Was in your smile!
You were the cloudless crescent moon
In quiet skies,
The stars that clouded o'er so soon
Were your two eyes.
Oh why so much and not the whole!
Was mine the wrong?
You were the music and the soul
Of all my song!
New suns may dawn for you, for me,
Stars rise again,
But you have been what none can be,
My spring refrain.
