Theatre Wagon
Presents Comedy
Michael Grigsby, '68 graduate of
the University of Virginia, Fletcher
Collins III '69, and Francis Collins
'70 have leading roles in Theater
Wagon's "3 Filosofers In A Firetower"
Friday-Saturday at the
Albemarle Hotel.
"3 Filosofers In A Firetower" is
described by the Richmond News-Leader
as "a madcap comedy,
bristling with ideas and paradoxes,
full of hilarious and often profound
comment about human behavior. It
makes bewildering leaps from farce
to fantasy, from slangy dialogue to
lyric passages."
The Roanoke Times calls "Filosofers"
a "satire on all our arty-mystic
cults and shows us tragicomic
figures, trapped in their own
poses, cartoons with real humanity."
Theater Wagon has played "Filosofers"
for a week's engagement at
the Barn Dinner-Theatre in
Roanoke, made guest appearances
at Wedgewood Dinner-Theatre and
Swift Creek Mill Playhouse, and
given a special performance off-Broadway
at the Greenwich Mews.
From the original cast and now
at the Albemarle are Bette Allan,
John Wood, Christopher Collins, all
seen here recently in the Wagon's
"Love Is A Daisy."
New to the current production of
"Filosofers" are Richard Pierce,
who was at Asolo Festival Theatre
for a season, and last summer
created the leading role in the
Wagon's premiere of "To Solve a
Riddle" by Jeannie Lee, author of
"Blank Page"; Louise Rossett who
acted with the Wagon at Skyland;
Sherri Miller and Bart Bartholomew
of Mary Baldwin College; M.W.
Larner, Michael Ridge, and George
Bergman of the Oak Grove Theater.
"3 Filosofers In A Firetower"
plays at the Hotel Albemarle
Friday-Saturday Feb. 14-15 and
21-22. Curtain time is 8:30. For
reservations call The Gaslight or
296-2969.
