The University Chess Club met for the first time Tuesday night, and an overwhelming number of students attended. During chess matches which ensued, participants spilled out of the Newcomb Hall Informal Lounge into the hall outside. Although most of the meeting time was spent playing chess, action was stopped long enough to hear a member's firsthand account of the Bobby Fischer-Boris Spassky chess match which took place in Iceland this summer. A University chess tournament is planned for October.
