In MEMORY of Master J. H.
Who departed this Life, April 7, 1773, aged Eleven Years.
Like some fair rose, that, in the morning seenHides its pale blush beneath the mantling green;
But silent smote before the noon day sun,
At evening fades, ere half its bloom's begun:
So fell this flower! that here, in dust array'd,
Reclines its foliage in this sacred shade.
Immortal flower, whose root, without decay,
Shall fairer spring, and bloom in endless day!
