[Short was the time on thee, O earth, I spent]
Short was the time on thee, O earth, I spent,With little blest, and yet with that content:
Friend to no crimes, to no good man a foe,
I come: nor you, ye pow'rs, that rule below,
If sanction ever to a crime I gave,
Be just; nor, earth, lie light upon my grave.
