McGrail Scores

Bobby McGrail provided the
Cavaliers with their only
touchdown of the game as he
picked off a Kingsley Fink pass
and sprinted 63 yards behind a
wall of blockers for the score
which pulled the Wahoos within
striking distance at 14-9 with four
minutes left.

The other Cavalier scoring
came on a 34-yard field goal by
Billy Maxwell in the first half
which put the Wahoos ahead for
the only time in the game. The
field goal was Maxwell's fourth of
the season which leaves him just
one short of the all-time Virginia
record of five set by George
Arnold back in 1923.

Army had good field position
throughout the first period, but
the Virginia defense kept the
Cadets from scoring. Virginia was
bottled up in its own territory for
the whole first quarter.
