THE ETERNAL LOVERS
Whirled on their starry Odyssey
From heaven to earth, in this deep glade
The eternal lovers hold their court
Within the heart of man and maid.
From heaven to earth, in this deep glade
The eternal lovers hold their court
Within the heart of man and maid.
That darkness throbs with hidden fire:
The pulse beats fast: the heavens call:
Earth is transfigured, and the twain
Breathe as they did before the Fall.
The pulse beats fast: the heavens call:
Earth is transfigured, and the twain
Breathe as they did before the Fall.
When King and Queen feast in the heart
They squander all the gold of years
To make their banquet gay, then leave
A ruined heart, a house of tears.
They squander all the gold of years
To make their banquet gay, then leave
A ruined heart, a house of tears.
