[I can be haughty with my brother-kind]

I can be haughty with my brother-kind,
Walk on their courtesies like trivial flow'rs
Strewn for a humble tribute: this is well:
But if they knew me as I know myself,
The beggar's look who did not spit on me
Were grateful alms! Oh Gracious God in Heaven!
How can we show our faces to Thy sun?
