Namath In
Hackneyed
War Film

By STEVE GRIMWOOD

"The Last Rebel," known as
the "Joe Namath movie," has
got to be one of the most
insufferable films I've ever sat
through. Acting non-existent,
direction hackneyed, dialogue
atrocious, this movie does not
have a single redeeming factor
whatsoever.

The scene is the end of the
Civil War, and baby-faced Joe
is running from a Yankee
prison camp, though you never
see any Yankees chasing him.
To keep things short, one little
escapade leads to another and
it all ends (surprise!) with a big
shootout in front of the local
whorehouse. Naturally, Mr.
Curly-locks is inside.

This film was made
specifically for all you people
or there that think Joe
Namath is just one hell of a
groovy fellow. Cute little Joe
gets to show off his sparkling
blue eyes constantly, his
winning white smile more than
occasionally, and his virility
predictably. The only thing
missing is talent, but quite a
few people have never let that
stand in the way of their
career as an actor, and "killer"
Joe is no exception.
