What Girls Think Of U. Men
By Whiter Wash
Special To College Topics
The other day the editor of the
Bullet asked me to write a feature
story for Topics and I jumped at the
chance.
So, University of Virginia, you want
to know what we Mary Washington
girls think of you? Well - settle down
in a comfy chair, light your pipe, and
put on "I Don't Want To Set The
World On Fire" because I'm going to
shoot the bull. Here's hopin' ya like it.
Resolved on the 14th of November
in the year of our Lord, 1970, that we
Mary Washington girls like the men of
the University.
You're lots of fun. You have real
spirit. We like you because you're men.
We like you because you wear coats on
the campus, because you uphold all
that a man stands for (and then some),
we like the way you say first-year men,
we admire your strong honor system,
we're wild about your house parties,
you always show us a super-duper
time, we love your campus. In general,
I guess we like you. Now for a few
personal remarks:
Jean: U. men? I'm a HOG about
them.
Tuck: Joe College may be all right
but you can have him. Give me a U.
MAN anytime.
Kay: I jest loves 'em all.
Sue: Me? Well, I'm engaged to one.
Robin: Those house-parties are the
best this side of the Rockies via
England.
Dot: Maybe they don't wear
uniforms but are they smooth!
Mollio: Did someone say the Glee
Club was coming up for a Concert;
Hope they eat in the dining room.
Betty: I love all men.
And so we could go, on into the
nite. Our sentiments are wholehearted
and sincere. If you don't believe me,
you should hear the prayer of many a
Mary Washington girl after "Lights
Out." It would go something like this:
"Someday he'll come along, the man I
love, and please dear God, let him be a
University man.
