Dear Sir:

It had been my hope that when
Richard Gwathmey laid down the
quill last year I would be spared the
rhetoric of liberal hysteria which so
characterized The Cavalier Daily
under his leadership. To my disgust
however I find the same spoutings
of liberal horseshit offered up for
my digestion as in the past. Now, I
am not against freedom of the
press, since I obviously do not have
to read your paper if I find it
obnoxious and objectionable. But it
seems unfair, and, if you will allow
the word, un-American, to force
students to support a newspaper
whose ideas may be ideologically
repugnant to them.

Therefore I make the following
request to whomever one makes
requests of this nature to: that all
monies which go to The Cavalier
Daily from my comprehensive fee
be returned to me, and that The
Cavalier Daily be instructed to print
one less rag to compensate for the
decrease in their forced circulation.

Since I don't have to buy the
New York Times, I should not have
to buy The Cavalier Daily:

David Blumberg
College 4

Upon receipt of this letter, we
found many staff members who go
to Rugby games, a sport which Mr.
Blumberg plays and which is
supported by the Student Activities
Fund. We don't like the formations
the team uses. We are prepared to
ask that the Rugby Club return all
monies from our Student Activities
Fee which go to Rugby and that it
be prepared to play one less game if
the ensuing shortage so necessitates.
