The Good Old Game

The only thing predictable about the football game this
afternoon in Scott Stadium is that the game will be unpredictable.
Traditional rivalries have a way of bringing
out the best in both teams—especially when such a treasured
old trophy as the Old Blue Keg hangs in the balance.

This has so far been a disappointing year on the gridiron
for the faithful in Charlottesville. Games won have had an
alarming tendency to become games lost in the waning
minutes. But nothing can make a Wahoo forget a
less-than-successful record more than a resounding triumph
over the traditional rival in the conference who seems just
a little too much like the University to be allowed to get
away with it.

This is the last game in Scott Stadium for the fourth-year
men. They have stuck with the program through the
last four years in good times, and in bad. We join their
fellow students in expressing appreciation for what they've
done. Never has one of these men experienced defeat at
the hands of a Tarheel team. It's a tradition that should
not die this afternoon.
