This Christmas tree on display in the Chemistry Building is more than an ordinary artificial one. It was created by mixing silver nitrate and water in such proportions that the nitrate crystallized on the tree frame immersed in the solution. This unique decoration takes advantage of basic elements of nature, leaving tinsel to the dilettantes.
