John Bacon's estate and the purchase of
slaves. Two of the letters, from Edmund Bacon to
William J. Bacon,
June 4, 1864, and March 14, 1865,
discuss the family, management of William's farm
during his absence, crops, slaves running off to join the Union army, and
other Civil War news.
