LIFE.

The shuttle flashing quickly thro' the loom,
The shadow of a cloud upon the hills,
The flowers that perish almost ere the bloom,
The sparkle and the gleam on summer rills,
The lightning, flame-like, leaping thro' the gloom,
The foaming cataract which rainbows span,
The falcon, poising in its airy flight,
The sudden darkness of a southern night,—
All these are emblems of the life of man.
