Cain and Abel.

“To thine ownself be true,
And it must follow as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.”

Cain was not true to Abel,
Neither true to himself,
Because Abel was true to both,
He put his brother to death.
I think how many a hundred
Of innocent Negro men,
Each trying to do like Abel,
Have died his death since then.
