Two thousand antiwar protesters were arrested in front of the Justice Department Tuesday. After two hours of speeches police announced that the gathering was illegal and all persons who didn't leave would be arrested. Police donned tear gas masks and released one tear gas canister into the demonstrators who were blocked to the east by the Justice Building, to the west by the Internal Revenue Building, and to the south and north by police lines and prisoner buses. After several clubbings police changed tactics to peacefully arresting the protesters one at a time.
