A SMALL TRADE.
“Cold day, Mr. Smith,” said old Roger, in the Dock
Square omnibus to his neighbor, who assented very
politely. “And yet,” continued Roger, “cold as it is,
I have just seen a man in State-street, who does not
wear gloves.”
“Ah!” responded Smith, struck with the singularity
of the statement, “why not, pray?”
“Why,” chuckled the old man, “because he has n't
any hands.”
Mr. Smith smiled.
