Þanne seide otuwel,
Þat was douȝti kniȝt & snel,
To roulond & to oliuer,
& to þe gode kniȝt ogger,
“Nou he haueþ þis ȝift iȝiue,
I rede þat we laten him liue.
Bi-fore þe king he schall be brouȝt,
For gode, we nulle slen him nouȝt;”

& wiþ outen any targing,
