And now, unconscious of their stay,
They homeward plod their weary way:
When tide and tempest join their force,
To intercept the destined course!
The rock they climb, whose foot before
They pass'd, nor heard the surges roar:

No beau, as Perseus, hovers near
To bid her bosom be of cheer,
And ere she feel the bellowing shock,
Bear her in safety from the rock.
