I
To thee who sit'st enthron'd on high,In mercy, as in might, supreme;
To thee I raise my wishfull eye,
And wait thy warm indulgent beam.

Thus looks a servant that's sincere,Thus fix'd attends his master's face;

And wretched, if he reads disgrace.
III
O God! 'tis hard, 'tis wondrous hard;To bear the great one's less'ning look;
But, Gracious! give me thy regard,
And human scorn with ease I brook.
