University of Virginia Library

Art Show
Scheduled
Saturday

Complementing an already
event-fulled weekend will be an art
show on the portico of the
Rotunda, sponsored by the University
Union's Fine Arts Committee,
lasting from 11:00 a.m. until
sundown on Saturday, April 18.
Artists from the region have been
invited to bring their works, which
range from woodcuts, hand-made
jewelry oils, pen and inks o
anything the artist wishes to display.
The exhibit is for the benefit
of the artists and the University
community that will be able to see
the work which is being produced
in Virginia.

The show is mainly an exhibit
and not a sale, but arrangements
can be made with individual artists
to purchase their works. There is no
commission or exhibit fee of any
kind, and each artist will be located
with is works around the portico.
The Union does not have facilities
to properly hung works, so paintings
will be propped against the
walls, making it a true to the word
"Sidewalk Show." In case of bad
weather, the show will be moved
Inside the Rotunda.

The Fine Arts Committee hopes
to make the show an annual affair,
and is interested in-making it a big
success. Many and varied artists will
be here, which should attract a
good crowd from the University
community.
